Is there a free fax app for iPhone?
Each free fax app for iPhone that we checked in November 2026 charges to send, after at most a couple of free faxes, a few free pages or a trial. To pay nothing, use a free fax website in Safari, such as FaxZero for up to 3 pages plus a cover page, or a public library that faxes free.
On November 1, 2026, we read the App Store listings of eight fax apps that each have thousands of ratings. Where an app gave something free, it was a demo fax, "a couple of faxes" or a 7-day trial that becomes a monthly plan. Fax.Plus and Fax Burner give a few free pages with a free account, 10 and 5, according to their websites. The listings for FaxFree, Fax from iPhone: Free of ad and Genius Fax describe no free fax at all.
What eight iPhone fax apps give free, and what they charge
All eight listings show the price as Free, so the download costs nothing, and each app sells sending from inside the app. The apps are in alphabetical order, with our own app last for comparison.
Prices as of November 2026, in US dollars, as listed on each app's App Store page on November 1, 2026, unless a row names the maker's website. Many in-app items don't say how long they last, and some names appear more than once at different prices.
| App (developer) | What's free | What you pay after that | How it charges |
|---|---|---|---|
| #FAX from iPhone: free sending (CurrentBlack LLC) | "A couple of faxes" before you subscribe; the listing doesn't give a number | Sending only: $2.99 a week, $7.99 a month, $79.99 a year. Sending and receiving: $4.99 a week, $9.99 a month, $99.99 a year | Subscription that renews |
| Fax Burner: iPhone Fax App (Networx Online) | A free fax number for receiving, up to 25 pages a month. Its website says a free account can send 5 pages | In the app, $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Its website says plans start at $4.99 a month | Free account, then a subscription |
| Fax from iPhone: Free of ad (Must Have Apps) | No free fax described. It says a fax that still fails after its retries isn't charged | "Send Fax Weekly" $9.99, "Yearly Fax Pro" $69.99, or 50 or 150 fax credits for $3.99 or $9.99 (credits per page not stated) | Subscriptions and credits |
| FAX from iPhone: Send Doc App (Municorn Limited) | A demo fax to any number | Its version notes (dated Sep 29, no year shown) give $9.99 a week, $29.99 a month or $249.99 a year for unlimited sending and receiving. The in-app list also shows "Unlimited Faxes (1 week)" at $3.99 to $7.99 | Subscription that renews |
| Fax.Plus (Alohi) | 10 pages in total, send only, once you sign up, with no credit card. These figures are from its website, since the listing gives no number | In the app, Basic $8.99 a month or $83.99 a year, Premium $17.99 a month, or "Fax Credit" items from $8.99. Its website lists Basic at $6.99 a month when billed annually ($83.99 a year) | Free pages, then credit or a subscription |
| FaxFree: Send Fax From iPhone (BPMobile) | Only the download. The listing describes no free fax or trial | "Unlimited Faxes (1 week)" $4.99. Other plans $6.99 to $42.99, billed weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly | Subscription that renews |
| Genius Fax (The Grizzly Labs) | The cover page it adds | One credit for each page: 1 credit $0.99, 10 for $6.99, 50 for $19.99. A US fax number to receive on is $3.99 a month | Credits per page; a subscription only for a fax number |
| iFax App Send Fax From iPhone (Crowded Road) | A 7-day trial of its monthly plan, which then charges automatically | "iFax Monthly with 7-day trial" $24.99, though the description says from $27.99 a month. Also "Send Only Weekly" $9.99 | Trial that turns into a subscription |
| FaxFair, our app (for comparison) | Your first fax, up to 40 pages, once per iPhone | 1 fax $2.49, 3 faxes $5.99, 10 faxes $14.99. One fax is any length up to 40 pages, including the cover page | Per fax, no subscription |
Genius Fax sells no plan for sending at all. You pay one credit for each page, and its only subscriptions are for a fax number to receive faxes on.
How to fax from an iPhone for free
As of November 2026, these are the ways to send a free fax on an iPhone. Each one has limits, so check them against your pages first.
- FaxZero sends free faxes to the U.S. and Canada from its website, up to 3 pages plus a cover page and 5 a day, with no credit card. It takes DOC, DOCX or PDF files and puts its branding on the free cover page.
- GotFreeFax sends up to 3 pages per fax to the U.S. and Canada, with 2 free faxes a day. Its free cover page doesn't count toward the limit, and it takes PDF, Doc or JPG files, up to 40 MB in all.
- Fax.Plus has a free plan with 10 pages in total for sending only. You sign up with a Google, Microsoft or email account, and you don't need a credit card.
- Some public libraries fax free. Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library does at all its locations, with no page limit and no library card needed. King County Library System in Washington does at its Library Document Stations.
FaxZero and GotFreeFax are websites, so you open them in Safari once your pages are in a file. The Files app on your iPhone can scan paper and save it as one. Some libraries charge instead. As of November 2026, Lansing Public Library in Illinois lists $1.00 a page, on a price list dated 2018. Some Lansing residents can fax free there. Call your library before you go.

Free trials and weekly plans compared with paying per fax
A free trial in an App Store app turns into a paid plan unless you cancel it. On October 30, 2026, we read the visible App Store reviews of the fax apps we compete with. Charges after a canceled trial were a common complaint in the reviews we read.
Apple's page for app makers says "the subscription auto-renews at the standard price unless a subscriber cancels it" when a free offer ends. Apple Support says to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
In iFax's listing, the free trial lasts 7 days, and "monthly subscription charges are then made automatically" unless you cancel. As of November 2026, its in-app list shows that plan at $24.99, and its description says prices start at $27.99 a month. If you send one fax in the trial and miss the cancel date, you're charged at least $24.99 for the first month.
Say you need to send one 3-page fax to a U.S. number. At the prices listed in November 2026, the options above add up like this.
- FaxZero's free fax is $0, inside its 3-page limit.
- #FAX from iPhone lets you send "a couple of faxes" free first, without saying how many pages. After that, a week of sending costs $2.99 and renews each week until you cancel.
- This website charges $2.49 for a fax of up to 40 pages.
- Genius Fax is $2.97 for 3 credits bought one at a time at $0.99, and the cover page is free.
- FaxZero's paid fax is $3.29 for up to 25 pages, paid with PayPal.
- iFax's trial is $0 if you cancel at least 24 hours before the 7 days end. If you don't, you're charged at least $24.99 for the first month.
Paying per fax or per page gives you a known price, and nothing renews. A weekly plan can cost less if you send several faxes in one week and cancel in time. Municorn's $9.99 weekly plan comes from its version notes (Sep 29, no year shown). Against $2.49 to $3.29 a fax, it costs less from the fourth fax at $3.29 or the fifth at $2.49. Its in-app list also shows one-week items at $3.99 to $7.99. Those break even sooner, from the second to the fourth fax depending on the item and the per-fax price, though the listing doesn't say what each includes. The $2.99 sending week in #FAX costs less than one $3.29 fax, but its listing doesn't say how many faxes or pages it covers.
To send a fax today without a trial or a plan, use this website. A fax of up to 40 pages costs $2.49 to any fax number in the US or Canada, and we only charge your card when the fax is delivered. If your pages are on paper, the FaxFair iPhone app scans them with the camera, and your first fax there is free, up to 40 pages.
Send a fax onlineQuestions
Can I send a fax from my iPhone for free?
Yes, within limits. As of November 2026, FaxZero sends free faxes to the U.S. and Canada from its website, up to 3 pages plus a cover page and 5 a day. GotFreeFax sends up to 3 pages, 2 a day, and Fax.Plus gives 10 free pages in total once you sign up. In the FaxFair app, your first fax is free, up to 40 pages.
Is there a completely free fax app?
Not among the eight we checked in November 2026. Each one is free to download, but sending costs money after at most a couple of free faxes, a few free pages or a trial. For a fax you never pay for, use a free fax website in Safari or a library that faxes free.
Which is the best free fax app for iPhone?
None of the eight apps we checked keeps sending free, so the right choice depends on your fax. For a short fax, a free website such as FaxZero is enough. For one longer fax, paying per fax or per page avoids a plan that renews. If you send several faxes in one week, a weekly plan can cost less, as long as you cancel in time.
How do I stop a fax app trial from charging me?
Cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends, as Apple Support advises. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap the subscription and then tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find that button. If there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled.
