Fax from a computer or a phone
FaxFair is an online fax service that works in your web browser. You can send a fax from a Windows PC, a Mac, a Chromebook, an iPhone or an Android phone without installing anything. You don't need a fax machine, a phone line or an account.
To fax a Word or Google Docs file, save it as a PDF first and upload the PDF. To fax pages on paper, take a clear photo of each page, or scan them with the FaxFair iPhone app.

Receive faxes online
When an office needs to fax papers back to you, get a US fax number on this website for 7 days, 30 days or 1 year, from $4.99. We email each fax sent to it to you as a PDF, and a private inbox page lists them too. You pay by card, without an account or the app, and the number doesn't renew.

One fax covers any length up to 40 pages, including the cover page, which is free. The faxes you buy stay in the app until you use them, and if a fax fails, you get the fax back. Apple handles the payment, and the App Store shows the price for your country.

The prices are the same when you get a number on this website and in the app. You pick a US number from a live list by area code or city, and it doesn't renew. Buying again adds days to the same number. With a number from the website, we email each fax to you as a PDF. In the app, received faxes don't use any of your faxes.
Why we charge per fax, not per month
All five fax apps we checked on the App Store in October 2026 sell weekly subscriptions. That suits someone who faxes every week. If you fax twice a year, a subscription keeps billing you for the weeks or months in between, so we charge per fax instead.
Free ways to send a fax
The FaxFair iPhone app sends your first fax free, up to 40 pages, and scans the pages with your camera. If you don't have an iPhone, or you've used your free fax, a free fax website or a public library may work, but check their limits against your pages.
- FaxZero's website sends free faxes to the US and Canada, up to 3 pages plus a cover page and 5 free faxes a day. Note that FaxZero puts its branding on the free cover page.
- King County Library System in Washington sends faxes for free at its Library Document Stations. Ask your own library whether it sends faxes and what it charges.

Questions
What files can I fax from this website?
PDF, JPG, PNG, WEBP and TIFF files, up to 10 files and 40 MB in all. Each photo becomes one page. If your iPhone saved a photo as HEIC, save it as a JPG first, or send it from the FaxFair app.
What's printed on each page?
At the top, the fax service prints the date, the time and the number the fax comes from. At the bottom, we print your name and phone number, the date and time it was sent, "via FaxFair" and the page number. US law requires a fax to show who sent it, so we ask for your name and phone before you pay.
Do I need an account?
No. On this website you pay on Stripe's checkout page, and Stripe asks for an email only to send your receipt. The app has no sign-up either. It matches your faxes to a random ID for your phone.
What happens if my fax fails?
It costs you nothing. For a fax sent from this website, checkout only puts a hold on your card, and we cancel the payment when a fax fails. Some banks show the hold as pending for a few days. In the app, the fax held for it goes back to your balance, and a free first fax that fails comes back too. The app also tells you why it failed, such as Line busy, No answer or Not a fax line, and offers Try again or Change number.
What happens to my document after it's sent?
We delete it from our servers as soon as the fax is delivered or fails. If you start a website fax and don't pay, we delete its files when the checkout page expires, after 60 minutes. For 90 days we keep the last 4 digits of the number, the page count, the price, the status and the times. Emails you send to support are kept for 2 years.
Which fax numbers can I send to?
Numbers in the United States, including Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands, and in Canada.
How long does a fax take?
It depends on the number of pages and the line at the other end, so we don't promise a time. For a fax from this website, a page usually takes about 30 seconds, or about 4 minutes if it's sent as a photo. If all our fax lines are busy, the app shows your place in line.
Can I receive faxes?
Yes. Get a US fax number on this website for 7 days ($4.99), 30 days ($9.99) or 1 year ($59.99). We email each fax sent to it to you as a PDF. The app sells numbers at the same prices. Neither kind renews.
What happens to faxes I receive, and when my number ends?
With a number from this website, we email each fax to you and list it on your private inbox page. With a number from the app, faxes appear in the app. We delete each fax from our servers when you delete it, after 7 days, or when the number is released. We remind you 3 days before your number ends (1 day for a 7-day number), then keep it 3 more days with incoming faxes held. After that it's released, and we never give it to another FaxFair customer.
What are the stamps in the app?
Every delivered fax adds a collectible stamp to your album, just for fun. The app shows the odds of each stamp before you buy faxes, and stamps can't be bought or sold.
